This class will teach you all of the fundamentals of competing in KCBS BBQ competitions. You are an aspiring team or you competed and weren’t happy with your results. If you are looking for an affordable way to learn the fundamentals of competition without wasting a bunch of wagyu briskets, then this class is for you. Since 2015 You Need a BBQ has been travelling across North American learning tips and tricks from some of the world’s best pit masters. This entertaining, action packed class will shorten your learning curve from 6 years to 2 fun filled days. Should Covid restrictions allow, we will allow some hands on experience as well.
If you want a second ticket for a team mate, it’s only an additional $200!
Aug 6 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Meat Selection and Preparation)
Friday evening we will walk you through all of the meat selection, Trimming, injecting of the meat, flavor profiles and equipment required.
Aug 7 8:00 AM – 3 PM (Cooking and Judging)
Saturday morning we will walk you through the entire 4 meat cook for competition including all of our recipes used to compete at the highest levels of BBQ including the World Championships. We will teach you’re the fundamentals of hot holding food to make sure it is ready for turn in time, building an award winning presentation box (judges eat with their eyes first!), tasting all 4 meats. How to obtain sponsors and promote yourself as a team, right down to answering all of your BBQ related questions.
