- 1 lb Bacon Chopped
- 2 lg Yellow Onions Diced
- 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp Maple Syrup
- 1 tbsp Yonedas All Purpose Seasoning
Smashburgers
- 2 lbs Ground Beef
- Yonedas All Purpose Seasoning to taste
- 8 slices Cheddar Cheese
- 8 slices Havarti Cheese
- 8 Burger Buns
Optional Toppings
- Pickles
- Shredded Lettuce
- Mayo
- Mustard
Instructions
- Make the Bacon Onion JamHeat your flat top grill or a large cast iron pan over medium heat.Cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove half the bacon and set aside, leaving the rest and the rendered fat on the flat top.Add sliced onions directly to the bacon fat on the grill. Cook low and slow, stirring often, for 15–20 minutes until deeply caramelized.Sprinkle in the brown sugar, drizzle the maple syrup, and season with Yonedas All Purpose Seasoning.Stir and cook another 5–10 minutes until jammy and sticky. Mix in the reserved bacon bits. Keep warm on a low corner of the flat top.
- Smash the BurgersForm the ground beef into 8 loosely packed balls (~1/4 lb each).Turn heat up to medium-high. Place beef balls on the flat top and smash hard with a spatula or burger press to create a thin patty.Season with Yonedas All Purpose Seasoning or salt & pepper.Cook 2–3 minutes until edges are crispy. Flip once, add cheese, and cook another 1–2 minutes until melted.
- Build the BurgersToast the buns on the flat top until golden.Spread mayo or mustard on the buns (optional).Place the cheesy smashburger on the bottom bun.Spoon a generous heap of bacon onion jam on top of the patty. Add your favorite toppings like pickles or lettuce, then cap with the top bun.
