Hanging Ribs

People were hanging ribs to cook them long before I started doing it, but I can say with great confidence that I was the first person to do it on a Pit Boss Vertical Smoker.  I started doing it long before they released their new rib hooks.  I tried it once because I started seeing the success that people were having hanging their ribs on Gateway Drum Smokers and UDS smokers. After quite a lot of practice, this is the method I used at the World BBQ Championships in Alabama to get a call in ribs.

Steak by itself is not very exciting.  When you go out for a perfect world class steak experience, it is consistently well seasoned, usually basted in butter and then served with a side of sauce. So when you are cooking steak at home, are you doing any of those thing or are you just hitting the steak with whatever you have in the cupboard and praying you don’t under or over cook it? Choosing the right steak seasoning and having a thermometer near by will take you most of the way there.

I have been a pro barbecuer for 5 years and I have cooked on Pit Boss Grills, Traeger, Big Green Egg, Kamado Joe, Grills Grills, Yoder and more. They are all good in their own way.  I can afford any grill on the market, so price was not really a factor in choosing my new grill.  I opened a BBQ supply store this year, so I decided to sell all my used grills and upgrade my home grill to a new model so that I could test it out.  I had to sell 8 different grills before my wife would let me get my new one. Yes I have a barbecue addiction.
